Ride Bikes Demo & Hire


Ulverston is located on the Ways Around The Bay cycle route and can be the starting point of many great Electric Bike adventures around Morecambe Bay or into the Lake District. We have a variety of touring electric bikes for hire directly from our shop, in the centre of Ulverston. Please note booking is highly recommended, especially Spring to Summer. Please ensure you have booked your E-bike hire in advance to avoid disappointment.

We cannot deliver bikes to you, they must be collected and returned to the shop in Ulverston within our hire bike hours which are Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 4.30pm.

How to find us:-

Ride Bikes, 5 Union Place, Ulverston, LA12 7HS. We are located in Brewery Street Car Park. You can park your car here or if you are travelling by public transport then the train is only a 10 minute walk away and the bus station only a 5 minute walk away from the shop.

Hire Times - for a single day hire, our hire bike availability times are 9.30a.m – 4.30p.m Monday to Saturday. Bikes must be collected and returned within these hours.

What to bring with you to collect the bike: You must bring photo ID with you, a valid passport or driving licence. Please note that we will not be able to let you hire a bike without photo ID. We will also need to take a security deposit of £500 per bike so please bring a suitable debit or credit card for us to do this, the card must match the name on the ID.

How Much is it? -

A full days hire from 9:30am - 4.30pm is £65

What is included in your hire fee?

- Hire of our premium Bosch powered electric bikes

- Helmet - The hire of a helmet is included in your hire fee, or you can wear your own. We run a strict no helmet - no hire policy.

- A lock

- Mini Tool Kit including a puncture repair kit, spare tube, tyre levers and a pump. If you use a tube during your ride then you will be charged for it at the end of the day. If you do not need

one, then there will be no fee. If you damage, break or lose any of the tools then you will be charged for those items.

- Front and rear lights

- A great day out!

You may wish to bring extras such as gloves, a water bottle and glasses or you can buy these from the shop.


Additional Accessories Available for Hire:-

We are pleased to also be able to offer you the following to make your day even better:

  • Trunk / pannier bag for the back of the bike. This is an Acid Trunk City bag that has the capacity of 8l + 16l and slots onto the back rack of the bike. You can store a water bottle in here, jackets, packed lunch, maps, flask, puncture kit etc. It also has side panniers should you wish to carry more, or if you happen to buy anything whilst you are out for the day! The cost is just £10.00 for 1 day’s hire
  • An SKS mobile phone holder that sits on the top tube. If you are navigating from your phone this is a great piece of kit. It also has a small storage compartment to store either your puncture kit or food. The cost is just £5.00 for 1 day’s hire.

Bike Hire Terms and Conditions

1. These Terms and Conditions relate to the hire of bikes from Ride Bikes and shall not be varied unless agreed in writing by Ride Bikes.

Your Reservation

2. Your bike will not be reserved unless you have received a confirmation email from our hire bike team. If you have any queries and / or have not received your confirmation email please contact us on 01229 585025 or hire@ridebikes.co.uk

3. Cancellation – you can cancel your bike hire with us up to 72 hours before the hire for a full refund. If you cancel within 48 hours of your hire then we will still charge you 50% of the bike hire fee. If you cancel on the day of the hire then we will charge you 100% of the bike hire fee.

4. Unless there are extreme weather conditions (such as gales, floods or snow) the hire will be deemed to continue and you will be charged as such.

5. You will not be permitted to hire a bike without 2 forms of ID, one of which must be a photo ID, namely a valid passport and/or driving license, then a debit or credit card with your name on it, bank statement, utility bill etc. Please bring these with you on the day of hire.

6. You must be over the age of 18 years to complete the Hire Agreement. You must be over the age of 14 to ride an ebike and be accompanied by at least one adult.

7. Bikes can be collected any time from 9.30am on the day of hire. Bikes must be returned to us by 4.30pm on the final day of hire.

8. If not returned by 4.30pm on the final day of hire then you will be charged for another full day’s hire and subsequent days will each incur a full days hire fee. This will be at the rate of £65.00. Any late return, replacement or repair costs or insurance excess payments may be taken from the deposit.

9. A security deposit of £500.00 per bike shall be taken on a credit/debit card before hire commences and this shall be cleared upon return of the equipment subject to the following terms. The deposit is to be held against any loss, theft, damage or failure to return the equipment by the specified time and date.

10. If the bike has incurred any damage whatsoever, whether accidental or intentional we will assess this with you and a reasonable charge to cover the damage may be taken from the deposit or charged to you to pay by an alternate method. Reasonable wear and tear will not be included, but any damage over and above this and will be considered, for example, deep scratches, dents, any damage to the motor or battery, if the motor has been submerged in water, cracked or damaged computer etc. This list is not exhaustive. Because you will be liable for any accidental damage to the bikes, we strongly advise you to ensure you are covered by your own insurance for the day of hire.

Your Responsibilities

11. You accept complete responsibility during the period of hire for the safe custody of the equipment and for any loss, theft or damage (howsoever caused). You are responsible for the security of the bicycle and must lock it to a fixed object whenever unattended and keep the equipment safeguarded at all times. If the bike is lost or stolen from your posession you will be liable for the replacement of the bike and any accessories. It is strongly advised that you have relevant insurance in place to cover the bike in the event of theft.

12. Any loss, theft, damage or accident should be notified to Ride Bikes immediately and in the case of theft or accident to the nearest police station too.

13. You accept that cycling has risks and confirm that you are a competent cyclist.

14. You must wear a helmet when riding the bike and it is strongly advised that you use other appropriate safety equipment and clothing. Front and rear lights are required in hours of reduced light.

15. You accept full responsibility if you ignore any of the above and we are not liable for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property that results. Save in respect of liability for personal injury or death resulting from our negligence, the hire company’s liability to you whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise is limited to the cost of hire. You agree to indemnify us against any liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses arising out of or in connection with the death or injury to any person or any damage to property resulting from your hire or use of the equipment.

16. We advise that you do not ride without personal and third party liability insurance, any claims for such will be your sole responsibility.
